Agro and Agro Processed Sector

The agro and agro processed industry is an important component of the manufacturing sector of Bangladesh which now accounts for 20% of Gross Domestic product (GDP) of the country. This sector involves the transformation of products originating from agriculture, forestry and fisheries. This industry employs 2.2% of the total work force of the country. The industry has been increasingly focusing on export markets. The main exports from this industry are composed of fish, shrimp and other frozen food products, tea, spices, fruits including fry fruits and some other processed agricultural products. The export growth of this sector is going up constantly every year and is being penetrated main stream market of middle east and Africa.
